MC, I wholeheartedly agree with you on the Comes A Time 7-17-76. There are many to mention, but one that has always grabbed me - and taken me away from whatever I was doing or thinking at the time - is the 6-29-76 jam between the last verse of The Wheel and the actual wind up reprise of Playin'. That whole jam is tight and full of little surprises. Especially near the end when it all gets chillingly sparse and airy, with Jerry just caressing some sweet yet poltergeist-like notes out of his guitar and someone unplugs a cord and the subsequent, sudden 'space echo' reverb crackles and someone makes a ghostly vocal sound . . . out of this world!
